Beaten to death. It turns off after three days

Tragic epilogue for a 63-year-old from La Spezia who had been living in Emilia, on the Reggio Emilia Apennines, for about ten years. Stefano Daveti passed away last night after an agony that lasted three days and resulted from the ferocious beating he suffered while he was at home in Morsiano (Villa Minozzo). An attack in which two neighbors with whom he allegedly had a furious argument are suspected. It will be the Carabinieri of Villa Minozzo and Castelnovo Monti, with the support of the survey section of the investigative unit of the provincial command of Reggio, who will establish what really happened. What is certain, in the meantime, is that a real fury hit the man, which caused multiple traumas to his head and face, disfigured him, and a pneumothorax. The investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Maria Rita Pantani, had been opened with the hypothesis of a crime of very serious injury, but could now be changed to murder. According to what was ascertained by the Carabinieri, Daveti would have been assisted by social services, but his brother Renzo ‘Benzo’, well known in the city both as a protagonist of the La Spezia music scene – he is one of the founders of the historic group Fall Out – and as the manager of popular wine bars , excludes that he may have had harmful behavior towards others. “I can’t conceive of such an intervention on him who, after all, was never violent. Extravagant, yes, but never violent towards anyone. Indeed, he had many friends here, in his city of origin, who loved him and who still don’t know what happened to him” he declared to his colleagues from ‘Il Resto del Carlino’. And he remembered his brother’s past: his diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts, his years as a teacher at the artistic high school of Tempio Pausania, his commitment in the ecological and social fields. In Morsiano he had purchased a farmhouse which he had renovated to carve out a life of peace and harmony with nature, putting his artistic talent in the foreground.

The mayor of Villa Minozzo Elio Ivo Sassi also intervenes on the tragic story: “I want to clearly underline that in this situation Daveti is the victim. We are talking about a person with problems, who has certainly disturbed the neighbors and the community of Morsiano on several occasions, but this certainly cannot justify the events that occurred; Daveti was not the protagonist of acts of violence. The judiciary will shed light on what happened and on the responsibilities of this attack.” An unprecedented act of blood in the small community of the Apennines, which also profoundly shook the city in which Daveti was born and raised.
