Head to head clash in Mirandola for the 2024 elections. Of the four mayoral candidates running for the 2024 municipal elections in Mirandola in the first round, two contested this second round: Letizia Budri, outgoing deputy mayor of the centre-right Administration and, for the centre-left, the manager Carlo Bassoli.

It is Budri who comes out on top in this second electoral round with 51.06% of the votes. The centre-left candidate, Bassoli, stops just below at 48.94%.

A total of 10 seats in the city council go to Budri’s coalition, divided into: 4 to the mayor Letizia Budri list, 3 to the League, 2 to Fratelli d’Italia, and one to Forza Italia.

The centre-right coalition is entitled to 4, divided into 3 to the PD and one to the civic list “+ Mirandola” in addition to the councilor Carlo Bassoli. A seat also goes to the councilor Giorgio Siena.

Hot declarations

“Today is a beautiful day that leads to an unexpected victory. They have been very tiring weeks and I believe that this result repays my entire team for the great work done. I feel a great responsibility of being the first female Mayor of Miradola. My commitment will never fail also for what I represent in this sense”, commented Letizia Budri, the first mayor in the history of the city.

“Difficult challenges await us: I was well aware that the new Mayor would have to immediately address important discussions, among which I would like to underline the meeting at the Region, scheduled for next 26 June, to address the employment crisis of the former Bellco and then the situation linked to Aimag which has not yet approved its budget. In the next few hours I will work on the formation of the new council and the administrative team that will support me in the government of the City will soon be announced”.

Ballot turnout

In the run-off of the municipal elections in Mirandola, the turnout was 51.72%. Out of a total of 18,976 voters, 9,815 people voted. 83 null ballots and 43 blank ballots were registered. There were no contested ballots.

About 10% less turnout in this second electoral round compared to the first. Compared to the first round, the centre-right coalition lost around 200 votes, going from a total of 5,128 votes at the beginning of June to 4,947 today, Bassoli however between the first round and this second round gained almost 400, going from 4,354 votes at the beginning of June to the 4,742 votes of this second round. However these were not enough to snatch the victory and the alliance with Giorgio Siena did not translate into a real sum of results.
