Municipal elections, turnout was 47.71%

For the second round of the local elections, 47.71% of eligible voters voted when the polls closed, a sharp drop compared to the first round, when the turnout was 62.83% (REAL-TIME UPDATES). This is what emerges from the Interior Ministry data published on the Eligendo portal and which refers to all 3,586 sections in all the municipalities voting.

In Tuscany turnout lower than 49%

In detail, the final average turnout in Tuscany for the choice of mayor in the 18 municipalities called to vote for the second round was 48.96%. In the first round, last 8 and 9 June, 64.58% of those entitled to vote had voted. If 47.96% voted in Florence, in the other four large municipalities called to vote the turnout was lower in Empoli, equal to 46.06, as well as Montecatini, with 43.9. However, it was higher than the regional average in Pontedera, where 53.76% voted, and in Piombino, where 56.04% of those entitled to vote went to vote.

Drop of over 13 percentage points in Piedmont

In Piedmont, where eight Municipalities were involved in the vote, including the provincial capitals Verbania and Vercelli, the overall turnout was 46.17%, with a drop of over 13 percentage points compared to the first round, when it was was 59.81%. In Vercelli the most marked decline: 42.03% voted, compared to 59.10% two weeks ago, in Verbania 47.15%, compared to 57% in the first round. In the three municipalities of the metropolitan city of Turin, which in the first round had all been above 60%, the best figure, in terms of turnout, was recorded in Giaveno: 49.82%.

Marche above 50%: the highest percentage in Urbino

The definitive percentage of voters in the run-off elections in the Veneto municipalities is 45.86%. Here too, turnout significantly dropped compared to the first round, when 58.56% went to the polls. The only capital municipality that renewed its administration, Rovigo, saw turnout at 47.54% against 60.48% in the first round. Finally, in the Marche region, 54.77% of those entitled to vote voted. The municipalities that went to the ballot are Urbino, Recanati and Osimo. In Urbino 68.45% of those entitled to vote voted; in Recanati 50.37% voted and in Osimo 52.36% of voters voted.
