Urbino, 24 June 2024 – Maurizio Gambini he is still mayor of Urbino After a tight one head-to-head in the runoff: the results of the first round of administrative they had not been decisive. Just before 6pm, 20 sections were scrutinized out of 20, the final result: 500 votes difference with the challenger Federico Scaramucci: the new (so to speak) mayor closed with the 53.08% and the challenger stopped at the 46.92%. And to the mayor’s operations center the party explodes with uncontainable stadium chants (video). The governor of the Marche also arrives Francesco Acquaroli.

Excellent turnout arrived just before 4pm: 68.45%, 2.5 percentage points less than in the first round. Then at the moment they are constantly overtaking each other.

Hat-trick for the centre-right in the Marche
It’s a hat-trick in the region for the centre-right coalition which, in addition to remaining in charge of Urbino, also takes on the other two centers which were previously governed by the centre-left in the second round: for example Osimoin the province of Ancona, the new mayor is Francesco Pirani, with the center-right united in the ballot, while in Recanati, in the Macerata area, Emanuele Pepa prevailed, beating the outgoing mayor Antonio Bravi. “Congratulations” to the newly elected representatives from the President of the Region, Francesco Acquaroli, who has led a centre-right council since 2020: the new mayors representing the centre-right in Osimo, Urbino and Recanati, he rejoices, “join those of Ascoli Piceno, Fano, Potenza Picena, Cingoli, Pergola, Monte Urano and many other municipalities where the vote was held two weeks ago”; “It is an important and significant result that gives us even more strength to continue changing our region”.

In the first round Gambinihe had obtained the 48% of preferences supported by ‘Free to change’, ‘Urbino ideal city’ and ‘Center-right for Gambini mayor’, and Scaramucciat the head of a centre-left coalition composed of the Democratic Party, ‘Left for Urbino’, the 5 Star Movement, the Italian Left Green Alliance, ‘Urbino Bene Comune’, ‘Urbino city of Europe’ and ‘Urbino is reborn’ had reached the 44.7% of votes.
Furthermore, the latter had managed to make an agreement with Maria Francesca Crespini of the civic listFuture‘, which he had obtained 617 preferences during the electoral round of 8 and 9 June.
