Paid parking, «Good, but still inconveniences in the center due to works in the Calvario area» – BisceglieLive.it

“It may seem unpleasant or not entirely pleasant, but returning to having the paid parking service active in the city center and on the seafront is a benefit for the city and for the city’s commercial activities.” This is what the president of Confcommercio Bisceglie, Leo Carriera, writes: regarding the reactivation, after approximately eight months, of paid parking on the blue lines.

«Let me explain better: for months the traders in the city center have, rightly, complained about a drop in sales also due to the lack of rotation of cars in the blue stalls (as well as the works that are affecting Piazza Vittorio Emanuele). This reactivation now allows the restoration of a physiological turnover of placements for citizens, be they residents, customers, visitors and so on, which, until now, was not guaranteed, generating stagnation”, declares Carriera.

«For the user, I can understand, it may seem like an extra tax, but for the Municipality and for the entire economic-productive fabric it is a useful means for vitality», he adds.

«The restoration of the long-awaited and painful paid parking has restored the right order to the car parks in our city – explain Sabino Galantino of Boutique Galantino -. While there is no news on the status of the works in the Calvario area, the inconveniences to traffic in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele have doubled following the simultaneous renovation of the small square in front of the Salmoiraghi & Viganò optician. The state of abandonment of the Calvario area is causing serious difficulties for the commercial activities present: losses in revenue and reductions in staff have been reported several times but without any response”, highlights Galantino.
