Lamezia, national women’s Serie C playoffs: the Viola Tennis girls win at home against Atlas Roma

Lamezia Terme – The women’s team of the SSD R. Viola Tennis & Sports made up of Anna Pardisi, Beatrice Veltri, Alessia Massimilla, Giulia Mercuri and Chiara Doria, captained by the Masters Fabrizio and Massimo Viola, having reached the national play-offs of Serie C, plays a excellent tennis against ASD Atlas of Rome and wins 4-0. The first leg, held in Lamezia Terme, on a very hot and windy day, saw Anna Paradisi (2.4 – Viola Tennis) and Giulia La Porta (2.6 – Atlas) take to the court with the former beating the latter with a net score of 6-1 6-3.

The second singles is played by Beatrice Veltri (2.5) who has not yet fully recovered from her recent injury, against Maddalena Cibien (2.7). However, the young Calabrian got the better of the Roman player, with the result 6-3 6-4. This is Veltri’s comment: “It was a difficult day, we weren’t able to express our best tennis due to the strong wind. We had Anna Paradisi with us for the first time and she made her debut in the best possible way. We are very happy with the result obtained even though both Alessia Massimilla and I are not 100% happy. We are confident and excited for next Sunday.”

The third point, which gives the victory to the Lamezzo team, is won by Alessia Massimilla, in a difficult and hard-fought match. The very young Massimilla (2.6) dominates a tenacious Giordana Lauri (2.8) winning 6-4 6-4. Finally, the unprecedented double Paradisi-Veltri wins the fourth victory of the day by beating 6-0 7-5 the pair formed by La Porta and Bonini (3.1) who tries to react in the second set without however obtaining the desired result. Next Sunday, June 30, the return match will be played in Rome, trying to obtain at least one victory which would guarantee promotion to the women’s Serie B2 of SSD Riccardo Viola Tennis & Sports in 2025.

“Instead, the championship of the Lamezia team in the men’s Serie B2 ended negatively – they say. Various injuries that occurred in the various matches had a significant impact on the progress of the Championship which ended with relegation. Hoping for a repechage next season and sure of being able to do better next year, we await the girls’ final competition.”
