The city of Crotone is currently at the center of a serious employment crisis that threatens to deprive more than 500 workers of their jobs at the Abramo Customer Care company. Francesco Rocco and Loredana Assisi, two authoritative voices among the employees, expressed deep concern and determination in dealing with this critical situation.

The current situation

Francesco Rocco
highlighted the urgent need for clarifications and concrete actions by the competent authorities. “Losing more than 500 salaries in Crotone is truly a tragedy,” declared Rocco. “The orders expire on June 30th and we still have no certainties about renewals or the continuity of activities. Our uncertainty is only fueled by unconfirmed rumors.”

Loredana Assisi he emphasized the crucial role of parliamentarians and local institutions in finding a solution. “The economy of a country cannot be maintained with layoffs and unemployment,” Assisi underlined firmly. “We don’t want to be left without work. We want to continue to serve our city and contribute to its economy. If politics is not able to find solutions, we will remain here to fight for our rights.”

Impact on the community

Rocco reiterated that the consequences of this crisis will not be limited to the workers directly involved. “We all have families and many of us have more than one salary at the company,” he explained. “The loss of our jobs will have devastating repercussions on the local economy. There is no concrete alternative plan. If there are no opportunities here, we will be forced to leave our city.”

Assisi also called the citizens of Crotone into question, inviting them to support the workers’ cause. “Every job loss is a blow to our community,” she said emotionally. “We have contributed to the local economic fabric for years. If we lose our jobs, not only will we suffer, but the whole city will suffer.”

Appeal for an immediate solution

Both concluded by reiterating their determination to remain in the council chamber in permanent assembly until they obtain satisfactory answers. “We ask that the ministerial table be convened immediately to address the Abramo Customer Care dispute,” insisted Rocco. “It is inconceivable that, a few days before the deadline for the orders, there has not yet been an official call.”

Assisi concluded with an urgent appeal: “Our city needs us. We are ready to fight for our future and for the future of Crotone.”
