The ballot counting of the municipal elections in Bari has begun (THE SPECIAL – REAL TIME UPDATES). The challengers are Vito Leccese, supported by a centre-left coalition, and Fabio Romito, candidate of the centre-right. The citizens of the Apulian capital were called to the polls again, on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June 2024, after no candidate managed to win the seat of mayor in the first round (ALL ADMINISTRATIVE RESULTS).

How it went in Bari in the first round

In the first round of the municipal elections in Bari Vito Leccese, supported by a coalition made up of the Democratic Party and other civic lists, obtained 48.02% of the votes. Behind him came Fabio Saverio Romito, supported by all the centre-right parties, who instead obtained 29.12% of the votes. In the regional capital of Puglia, in the first round, there were 5 mayoral candidates to succeed the outgoing mayor Antonio Decaro. In third place was Michele Laforgia, supported by the 5 Star Movement, the Italian Communist Party and other civic lists, who obtained 21.75% of the votes. There was no official alliance, but Laforgia gave his support to Leccese in the run-off. Closing out were Nicola Sciacovelli, with the support of Sciacovelli Sindaco – Ci Piace!, Noi Per Bari – Italexit Per L’Italia, who had obtained 0.76% of the votes, and Sabino Mangano, candidate from Oltre – Movimenti Civici Associati, which had reached 0.34% of the votes.
