Paul Marinaro quartet guests of the twenty-first edition ARGOJAZZ

PAUL MARINARO’s quartet will be guests of the twenty-first edition ARGOJAZZ.

One of the most beautiful male voices in vogue in America. Marinaro will perform songs from Frank Sinatra’s repertoire but also from his own and will be supported by a great rhythm composed of: Tom Vaitsas on piano, Giuseppe Venezia on double bass, Giovanni Scasciamacchia on drums.

Paul demonstrates a contagious mastery and passion for the material he chooses, allowing him to “successfully command the audience with his new interpretations. At home, he is currently enjoying sold-out engagements at world-renowned Chicago venues, including Joe and Wayne Segal’s Jazz Showcase, The Green Mill, Andy’s Jazz Club and at Winter’s Jazz Club, where he is currently in residence. He was a multiple time performer at the Chicago Jazz Festival, including a duet appearance with jazz legend Sheila Jordan at the massive Pritzker Pavilion for an audience of 10,000, earning rave reviews and being dubbed “Best of the Year” (Chicago Tribune) .Paul is a six-time winner of “Best Performance of the Year” in the Chicago Tribune and “Best of Chicago 2015” in NewCity Magazine.

Following the release of his acclaimed debut album Without a Song (2013), a tribute to his father, and a live album One Night in Chicago (2015), Paul has grown in national visibility and acclaim and has enjoyed many highly appreciated debuts in the United States, particularly at the famous Birdland Jazz Club in New York. His performances in Canada have included regular appearances at Toronto’s Jazz Bistro, JazzSudbury and Bravo Niagara! Festival of the Arts. Paul headlined several performances at Chicago’s stunning Auditorium Theater and in a stellar tribute to Oscar Peterson at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. He has performed in Copenhagen at the legendary Jazzhus Montmartre and in Sweden at the Konserthuset in Stockholm, and in Palermo at the Miles Davis Jazz Club. Paul is also a featured singer with the Metropolitan Jazz Octet, as well as the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, appearing at many festivals and concerts, including a recreation of the live album “Sinatra at the Sands” at the historic Studebaker Theater in May 2018 and May 2022, for which he earned rave reviews, again earning the distinction of “Best of the Year” in the Chicago Tribune.

Among the many large-scale recording projects Paul has undertaken during and after the pandemic is Paul’s highly anticipated second studio album, Not Quite Yet, which was released on October 28, 2022 and celebrated in concert at Studebaker Theatre. In January 2023, Paul celebrated another project featuring him with the Metropolitan Jazz Octet, The Bowie Project, as well as other exciting large-scale recording projects in the following months. Both albums are receiving rave reviews and earned a feature in Downbeat Magazine.

He is currently working on a national tour for 2024 and the release of a tribute album to Duke Ellington.
