Thousands of recent graduates from the University of Brescia gathered at the Fair (due to bad weather) for the diploma award ceremony

On Sunday 23 June at 7.00 pm the University of Brescia met at the Brescia Fair in via Caprera (due to rain, the event should in fact have been held in Campo Marte) for the eighth edition of the diploma award ceremony of “AD MAIORA” degree, aimed at graduates and graduates of master’s and bachelor’s degrees 2022/2023.

Over a thousand members who, together with family and friends, took part in the ceremony. Inspired by the Anglo-Saxon tradition of Commencement Day, the ceremony was introduced by the procession of professional professors and the 50 commended teachers starting from the Rectorate headquarters in Piazza Mercator. Accompanied by the Chorus Universitatis Brixiae directed by Maestro Silvio Baracco and composed of students, teachers, administrative staff and graduates of the University of Brescia and choristers from the Conservatory, the ceremony was marked by the speeches of the Rector of the University of Brescia Francesco Castelli, the Rector of the University of Bergamo Sergio Cavalieri, the Mayor of Brescia Laura Castelletti and Dr. Xhahysa Besjana, recent graduate in Biotechnology.

Representing all the master’s graduates of the University of Brescia, 50 graduates chosen from among those who deserved honors took the stage to receive their diplomas., based on a general criterion of representativeness of all master’s graduates for the 2022/2023 academic year. Furthermore, this year the University of Brescia and the Alumni Association celebrated the graduation anniversary of the University’s graduates who obtained their degrees in 1984.

At the end of the ceremony, the traditional launch of the academic touch was helda metaphor for the transmission of knowledge which symbolically spreads like rain from above and becomes the heritage of the entire community.
