Once again: bad weather disaster. More than 150 interventions by the Fire Brigade between Garda and Valsabbia alone: here it rained for almost 12 consecutive hours, from 5am to 5pm. This time the inconveniences and damage were concentrated in Lower Garda, and more precisely in Valtenesi: the Municipalities of Manerba and San Felice, struggling above all with the flooding of the canals, the small streams that flow within the town. No one got hurt, but many had a bad time. In Manerba, in Via della Selva (Perlino area), a lady risked being trapped in her Fiat Panda which was suddenly submerged by water: she was rescued also thanks to the help of a passer-by.
Dozens of people evacuated
In the Porto Torchio area, 5 people were left stranded in their cars and on the street following the flooding of a watercourse. “The water isolated the neighborhood – the Fire Brigade said in a note – and a team operated with the support of water rescue specialists equipped with rafting dinghies. Five people evacuated.” During the day, a temporary eviction order was also issued (then revoked in the evening) for the Baia Verde, Rio Feriengluck and Rolli campsites: more than 30 people were transferred, for safety reasons, to the sports hall, then returned towards the evening. Valtenesi Soccorso volunteers and the local police were also on site. Flooding and inconvenience also occurred in Romantica and the port of Dusano: at least 10 apartments flooded in a residence in Via Pace, on the lakefront.
Flooded roads, landslides and collapses
In San Felice the Rio Verde flooded. Roads like rivers (the video refers to what happened in the town) and some structural damage: the road of Via San Fermo – from the Cts towards the Baia Verde – was flooded and remained closed until the evening. However, the section of Via San Procolo (on the road from Raffa di Puegnago to the town) will remain until further notice, where in the early afternoon a retaining wall collapsed, literally invading the roadway. The landslide also blocked access to 4 private homes. Municipal workers and state bodies are already working to make it safe: the road will remain closed until further notice, pedestrian and vehicular transit prohibited until it is restored.
Roads closed also in Valsabbia
Some flooding and fallen trees also in Moniga, Padenghe, Desenzano and Sirmione: the Ss45bis closed due to a landslide in the Salò stretch between Via Seminario and Renzano. Various interventions have also been carried out in the Valsabbia area. In Sabbio Chiese the roads of Via Mondalino were closed due to a landslide (already removed, but the section closed for safety reasons) and the Sabbio-Clibbio cycle path due to the flooding of the Preane torrent: another landslide also in Bione, with the forced closure of the provincial road 31 from km 5+400. Day to forget.
