The extraordinary work of the San Vincenzo de’ Paoli association of Terni: 2,300 people in poverty helped

Aid for 2,300 people in difficulty, over sixty thousand euros spent on contributions for bills and shopping, food and clothing. This is the summary of the activity of the San Vincenzo de’ Paoli association of Terni, which has been involved in Catholic volunteering in the diocese for years. As many as 9,805 food parcels and hygiene products were distributed to 2,240 people, of which 872 were Italian. 769 people and 299 families were assisted with home visits. Thanks to the Emporio Bimbi, 17,130 items of clothing were received and distributed, as well as children’s equipment and furniture for a total value of over 40 thousand euros. The commitment to paying utilities, bills, rent and aid for the health care of needy people was notable. Just as important was the assistance given to numerous citizens for the payment of medical visits and the purchase of medicines. As in past years, there was no lack of support for studying and paying school expenses. To avoid dropping out of school, 543 children of thirty different nationalities were followed, including around forty Italians. In 2023, 91 new children were assisted. The Grandparents’ Emporium has also been in operation for two years, created to assist the elderly who live alone and often with pensions that are not up to their daily needs. Many volunteers are committed every day to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable and supporting families in difficulty, as recalled by the diocesan president, Roberto Reale. Moral and economic support to create a network of supportive relationships in which “no one feels excluded”.
