Monza Resegone 2024: triumph of Davide Perego from Merate, Barzanò’s Df Sport Specialist wins the women’s race

Wind, rain and the unshakable desire to be there. At the start, from the Arengario di Monza, and above all at the arrival at the Capanna Alpinisti Monzesi on the peaks of Resegone. For a race that, one hundred years after its birth, continues to offer emotions with timeless charm. The 62nd edition of the Monza Resegone is coming to an end: the race organized by the Società Alpinisti Monzesi, which this year attracted over 900 runners and enthusiasts.

Monza Resegone 2024: here are the winners

There are two types of competition in this special edition, held at night. On the one hand, the historic “Classic” race with backhoe loaders covering 42 kilometers with 1200m of positive altitude difference in a section divided into the hamlets of Monza-Osnago, Osnago-Olginate and finally Olginate-Capanna Monza; and on the other the “Relay” or the relay race with the change along the route between one partner and another of the trio.

A race characterized as already mentioned by the wind and rain which enhanced the effort and resistance, especially near the “big” climb between Erve and Calolziocorte, but which did not dampen the enthusiasm on the roadside with the numerous people who came to watch the itinerant race between the various municipalities (on the sidelines of the evening the terrible accident in Cernusco Lombardone which could have had much more serious consequences).

After the efforts in the late afternoon of yesterday, Sunday 23 June, the finishing orders of the two rankings were made official. As regards the classic race, the winner is The Running Club of Luino made up of Andrea Soffientini, Roberto Patuzzo and from the Merate area Davide Peregooriginally from Pagnano: the trio concluded the 42 km in a more than resolute 3h09’07”.
