Herculaneum. He dies on the path that leads to Vesuvius. A 56-year-old English tourist died of a heart attack while approaching the crater during an excursion to the volcano. The man originally from the United States was on holiday in Naples with his partner when he suddenly collapsed to the ground. The partner explained that she had undergone heart surgery in the previous weeks.
The rescue
The Volcanological Guides of the Vesuvius Volcano Presidium intervened immediately, attempting to resuscitate him for over 40 minutes using the defibrillators available in the Park. Despite the speed of the rescue efforts and the arrival of the ambulance, there was nothing that could be done for the man who leaves behind his partner and two children. The Carabinieri of the Herculaneum station intervened to carry out the necessary investigations.
