Airports, there is an alarm about “relocation” of flights from Naples to Salerno

Clarity is needed immediately on the operational summer flights to Naples and Salerno. This is the urgent appeal launched by Advunite-Aidit Campania regarding the management of the two Neapolitan ports. In fact, the inauguration of the Salerno-Amalfi Coast airport next July 11th will lead to the relocation of some flights from Naples, now saturated infrastructure. But to date – according to the association which brings together numerous travel agents from Campania – there is no certainty as to which flights will be diverted to the Salerno airport with all the problems involved.

The President of Advunite, Cesare Foàhighlights: «We have tried to explain to the political party and the airport company (Gesac, ndr) that we have big organizational problems on both the incoming and outgoing fronts, We need to know in advance where they will land and where they will take off the planes, but above all where they will be placed charter to Egypt. We know that in Naples there are limitations for two Schengen flights per hour, but will we leave from Salerno for Egypt? We are at the end of June and We don’t have the schedules for August yet and now we have to communicate this to customers. We are aware that some private flights have already been move to Foggia due to lack of slots and we understand that there are legal aspects to be respected, but we tourism operators need certainties, which currently seem like a real chimera. So let’s ask irrefutable answers from Gesac and by the relevant bodies because we cannot leave partner tour operators and air brokers alone in this delicate phase of the season”.

Also the president of Fiavet Campania, Giuseppe Scanuquestioned by us, observes: «We often forget that tourism is not only incoming, but also outgoing, a segment in which many companies specialize and work, investing economic and human resources. If there is a lack of clarity and timely information, it is necessary to intervene to ensure that there is rInspection of our business professional. We must always protect our customers and in the summer season we cannot afford to be careless. Let’s say that not communicating promptly can damage our work”.

Meanwhile Gesacthe company that manages the airports of Naples and Salerno, did not respond, limiting itself to specifying, through its press office, that “all scheduled flights are published on the website and there is no clarification to provide to the operators”.

For the record, a first calendar of flights that will depart from the Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi airport is already highlighted online and these are the connections to Milan, New York, London, Nantes, Basel and Berlin. While actually There is no information on charter flights yet.

Certainly the Salerno airport has one shorter runway than the one in Naples and therefore cannot ensure operational flights of too large aircraft; consequently, charter flight schedules will also be examined from time to time and very carefully.
