There “Criminalization of occupation and social resistance”with sentences from two to seven years for those who occupy properties without a title, a circumstance also applicable to evicted people and solidarity pickets.
And then, the restrictions on movement and protests with severe penalties for those who oppose major works deemed “strategic” and block road or railway arteries; as well as the “Discrimination and racialization” with the tightening of penalties for migrants and for those protesting in reception centres, with sentences of up to twenty years for personal injuries during riots.
Still, theincrease in penalties For acts against the police with the increase of penalties for violence or threats against public officials, without balancing the mitigating circumstances; there repression of protests environmentalists with severe penalties for soiling and disfigurement, with particular attention to institutional locations and tightening in case of repeat offenses; and the strengthened power of the Police forces with the increase in social control measures to prevent alleged risks of subversion of the democratic order.
“This bill represents an attack on fundamental freedoms and social justice. In the name of security, the Meloni government is trying to criminalize all forms of dissent and resistance. We cannot allow such a measure to go unnoticed” they underline from No Ponte.
Hence the invitation to all social forces, trade unions, policies and citizens “who believe in justice and human rights” to participate in the garrison which will be held in Piazza Italia in conjunction with other similar initiatives that are being organized in various Italian cities.
