(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 27 – “I would like to clarify a statement of mine that was misinterpreted and, in some cases, misreported. In the press conference I was asked what the Swiss national team learned from the 3-0 defeat in Rome against Italy in 2021. I replied that we learned a lot and then drew twice against Italy in the qualifiers, qualifying, unlike Italy, for the World Cup. I would like to underline that it was never my intention to provoke or make fun of the Italian national team”. Remo Freulera player for Switzerland, the Azzurri’s next opponent at the European Championships, wanted to clarify some of his statements that had sparked controversy on social media with a post on Instagram. “I have great respect for what Italy has done in the past – wrote the player, who wears the Bologna jersey -, for what it is doing and I love the country.
