Cosenza Pride, when Occhiuto denied patronage and spoke of “threats and blackmail” (ppe ri caggi)

We are certainly not among the admirers of the current municipal administration of Cosenza, led by the worst elements of a “left” that is anything but what it should be, involved as it is with the worst faces of organized crime, who wallow at their leisure in the corridors of the Municipality and led by individuals such as Nicola Adamo and Giggino Incarnato, who in addition to being unpresentable, have a face like that part of the body where it never beats the sun. And to be honest, this administration is in perfect political continuity with the previous one – apart from the inevitable demolitions of the house in via Roma and the roundabout in viale della Repubblica – as demonstrated by many “connections” in common. The “figurehead” mayor who acts as a lawyer and defends Mario Occhiuto’s doormat in court, his “rival” in the elections, the dead silence on the disgusting mafia contracts in Piazza Fera, the joke of the truth-telling operation on the Municipality’s accounts remained only a chat, the much alleged wellness park wanted by Occhiuto and defended at all costs by his successor, even Robertino’s private secretary who acts as best man at the wedding of the “puppet” mayor’s son. And we could go on and on but we’ll stop here out of love for our country,

For one thing, however, this administration can attach a medal to its chest and that is the municipal patronage of Cosenza Pride which Mario Occhiuto blatantly denied seven years ago, citing joke justifications and without rhyme or reason which today, a few hours after the success of last night’s procession, it is more appropriate than ever to remember.

The story of the Pride in Cosenza in 2017 had definitively torn apart the veil of hypocrisy that covered the true political and cultural identity of that administration, and had also opened the eyes of the many who less than a year earlier had rushed to vote for Occhiuto again, after having let yourself be fooled once again by his handsome honest boy face and his blatant lies.

Occhiuto had been able to reconstruct his re-election by placing himself as the victim of conspiracies and serial haters at the service of crooks and schemers who were angry with him because he is the only honest one in Cosenza. A strategy that – after silencing every possible political, cultural and social opposition, through the most classic of tools: the do ut des – worked great. With “false politics” Occhiuto had managed to deceive everyone. In fact, many of those who reproached him for his lack of patronage at the Cosenza Gay Pride, including many gays and lesbians, began their comments on Occhiuto’s posts on this matter with: I voted for her though… As masked homophobes and racists do disguise yourself: I’m not homophobic or racist, but…

But then the shame came out and the King was left naked (speaking of easy morals), and Occhiuti’s thoughts on civil rights became clear to everyone. Occhiuto, consequently, ran for cover and to defend himself he brought out his repertoire of accusations, placing himself as the victim of gratuitous and unjustified attacks by terrorists, extremists and subversives. Like those who… accused him of having voted for the secession of the rich in perfect Lega style and… Simona Loizzo.

A situation that made him anxious and took him back a few years, precisely to the red three-year period 2012/2013/2014: the famous years of lead in Cosenza (evoked by Occhiuto in his legendary post of the time…). When poor Occhiuto was in the sights of dangerous terrorists who never missed an opportunity to threaten him by telephone and to launch bomb alerts at the Municipality. A terrible situation from which he miraculously managed, despite the many attacks of that period, to emerge unscathed. Even if the damage caused by the terrorist activity reported by Occhiuto was enormous for the city.

Occhiuto clearly denounced that this, or the return of terrorism to Cosenza, it was and is already underway (with the posters on autonomy!!!) and that the threats from some gay subversive group had already arrived, and he said verbatim: “We have already suffered threats and anonymous phone calls for similar situations (always inspired by the same individuals who today find themselves in the organization of “Cosenza Pride”) with claims of terrorist acts of alleged bombs hidden in municipal offices. This is the level and the plain truth. Rights have nothing to do with it and homosexuals have nothing to do with it. I denied municipal patronage (which does not mean denying the municipality’s support) for these reasons, and the first is: always respond to threats and blackmail firmly…”.

Therefore, Occhiuto reported having suffered threats and blackmail. And this placed him at the first point of his No to patronage. For Occhiuto it was clear, as he wrote, that those who threatened him were the gays (and otherwise) who organized the event in Cosenza. given that it was them that his post was addressed to.

This is how the Occhiuto system works: when he can’t patch things up or buy people with your caggi’s money, he calls his friends from the prosecutor’s office into question. As if to say: be careful, I’ve warned you, if you don’t stop talking about me, you will end up being summoned to the prosecutor’s office very soon to answer for who knows what attack on me or on the institutions. Clear?

And to think that when we described this “mafia system” of intimidation and abuse of power towards those who express dissent towards Occhiuto, where prosecutors and judges act as criminal labourers, there were those who accused us of exaggerating in regards of the mayor: the same ones who then found themselves subjected to what they defined as “exaggerated”. As it is said: until now a ci ‘ngappi, a ci cridi.
