Enthusiasm, participation and personal bests at the City of Pistoia Meeting

The 2nd City of Pistoia Meeting received positive impressions from athletes and professionals: the organization of PistoiAtletica was promoted

An afternoon of great youth athletics that took place on Saturday 22 June, at School camp for the 2nd edition of the “City of Pistoia Meeting” dedicated, this year, to Cadet and Student categories which saw the participation of over 350 athletes from numerous Italian regions, including Sardinia. A perfectly successful event also from an organizational point of view, with the commitment of the plant managers – PistoiAtletica 1983 ChiantiBanca – again promoted with full marks after last year’s debut. An event made possible thanks to numerous leading partners alongside the white-green association, together with the main sponsor Chianti Bank which as always demonstrates great attention to society. For this reason, thanks go to Vannucci Piante, Sirtam and Conad Nord Ovest, together with Sedoni, Ramatex, Autodemolizioni Dolfi, Dasa, Medical Sport Due, Gate24, Life, Max Pell and Karhu.

Moving on to purely competitive matters, there were some noteworthy performances at a national level to highlight such as 53.04m by Martina Ricci (Athletics Pietrasanta Versilia) in hammer throw rather than the 7.01m (with almost 3 meters of tailwind) jumped from Edoardo Borchi (Athletics Livorno) in long jump: all races which, in part, were affected by the strong wind that blew on the school field all afternoon.
For speed races, however, everything is easy Giorgia Martini (Florence Marathon) in the 400m Student with 58″49 and for her teammate Giulio Bartalucci in the same distance for the men with 50”42. Great balance in the 80m Cadets where the winner Alessandro Artuso (Rinascita Montevarchi) with 9″50 who beats Francesco Biagioni (Atletica Virtus Lucca) by 3 hundredths with the fifth place of Mattia La Montagna (PistoiAtletica) with 9″76 and best time of the season. In the other expected challenges, second place for Matteo Squarcini for the hosts in the 100m Allievi with 11″45 behind the Livorno Davide Felicettiwhile in the women’s field she established herself Valentina Pinelli (Atletica Prato) with 12”15.

At the end, the two gold medals won by PistoiAtletica 1983 Chianti Banca. The first came from the long jump Cadetti with Andrea Bonvicini, the only one to exceed the 6 meter mark (6.04m to be precise) with the podium also completed by third place Manuel Zanoboni (5.68m). The second one, however, was put around his neck Margherita Niccolai in the shot put Allieve reached the measurement of 9.90m (also totaling the best performance of the season) trailing her opponents by almost half a metre. Furthermore, the PistoiAtletica 1983 ChiantiBanca also takes home two bronzes: one with Vanessa Innocenti in the 300m Cadette with a time of 44″74, the other in the 110hs Allievi with Cosimo Salvadori (15”01).
