«Filippo’s family asked us to forgive him, it’s impossible»

VIGONOVO – «The Turetta family contacted us asking to forgive Filippo. I never responded and I don’t deny that, at this moment, I am not willing to forgive.” Speaking about her is Andrea Camerotto, maternal uncle of Giulia Cecchettin, brother of her mother Monica, who passed away due to cancer a year before the young woman’s death. With a message on social media, Giulia’s uncle vents his anger at the information released from Filippo’s interrogation reports, in which he describes the methods of feminicide.

The messages

“I hope your family abandons you to yourself – he writes – with your worst nightmares. Otherwise there is no point in responding to that message from six months ago.” That message would be the request to forgive Filippo on the part of the Turetta family, who have remained silent since last November, while always maintaining their relationship with the Cecchettins. «I know that Filippo’s parents wrote to Gino on the occasion of the holidays – explains Camerotto – and that they also attempted an approach with him asking him to forgive their son. I don’t know what he replied but they wrote to me too and I never replied. I don’t want to blame Filippo’s parents and I don’t think Gino wants to either, I hope that theirs is an attempt at rapprochement dictated by sincere heartbreak and not a way of trying to defend the indefensible to lighten their son’s position. Forgiveness will come when they don’t try to take Filippo out of prison or in any case not make him serve the sentence he deserves. They must support our family 100%, only in that case can we talk about forgiveness.”
