Trento, the big Selom Mawugbe arrives

Dolomiti Energia Trentino announces that it has reached an agreement until the end of next season with the American big man Selom Mawugbe. Selom is a center with great athletic skills, a rim protector and good at finishing at the rim.

He was born in Santa Clarita, a city located a few kilometers north of Los Angeles in California, on July 20, 1998 and is 207 centimeters tall and 104 kilograms. His parents are from Ghana.

He began taking his first steps in basketball at Canyon High School and then went to college at the Azusa Pacific Cougars, a team that plays in the NCAA in Division II. In 2020 he signed with the Santa Cruz Warriors, in the G League, where he played for two seasons, recording 6.5 points, 7.6 rebounds per game and shooting 66% from the field in 23 minutes of use.

His first European experience came in the 2022-2023 season in Germany at the Seawolves of Rostock (German Serie A), where he played an excellent season with 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2 blocks per game in 26′. This positive year allows him to win the award for best defender in the BBL.

In the last season Selom played at Le Mans first, and then signed at Baxi Manresa in the ACB league where he reached the playoffs.

PAOLO GALBIATI (DOLOMITI ENERGIA TRENTINO Coach): «Selom is a player we were also looking for last year, after an excellent year in Germany. The season just ended was difficult for him, but even from the first conversations we could see in Selom the great desire for revenge he has inside. He is a player who makes athleticism, verticality and great sacrifice his main characteristics. I am sure that he will immediately integrate into the group that is being formed.”
