a Magical Gift for the City”

Become a witness to a historical event, an engaging journey between the past and the contemporary: the renewed opening of the Roman Amphitheater of Ancona. A real gift for the city, a prelude to a rich summer season of cultural and spectacular events. After twelve years of silence, the evocative setting of the amphitheater returned to echo with culture and art in a magical evening that gathered almost 800 guests.

The rain did not prevent the event from taking place in this exclusive location, rearranged in record time and inaugurated with the debut of Ankoneide. This summer show, part of the Popsophia project, celebrates the summer solstice, combining the ancient wisdom of philosophy with the modern brilliance of performance. Created by Lucrezia Ercoli, the program emphasized the powerful transition from one season to another, symbolized by the change of solstices.

It was truly a journey, a perfect circle that embraced the themes of light and fire, symbols of purification and renewal, abundance and salvation, but also omens of the inevitable end. But the discordant notes were canceled out by the courage and energy of life, well represented by the shine of the sun victorious over the darkness on the day of the solstice.

Lucrezia Ercoli, accompanied on stage by the philosopher Simone Regazzoni, offered a revisitation of philosophy from the point of view of marine waters. From Thales to Heraclitus, the journey was like surfing the waves of existence, in search of perpetual balance. The melodies that marked the evening, from “O sole mio” to “Onda su Onda”, perfectly reflected the soul of the event and its message of hope and regeneration.

This rebirth was possible thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Ancona, the Superintendence for archaeological and cultural heritage and the Popsophia Association. Great satisfaction was expressed by the authorities present, from the mayor of Ancona Daniele Silvetti, to the Superintendent Cecilia Carlorosi and the regional councilor for Culture Chiara Biondi.

The Roman Amphitheater of Ancona has therefore resurrected as a symbol of the city, capable of blending ancient Roman grandeur with contemporary cultural effervescence. And just as an ancient amphitheater should do, it gave space to the sharing of thoughts and emotions, gathering different ideas under the aegis of a single passion: culture.

This is how Ancona has reclaimed a fundamental piece of its history, a place steeped in past and future. The Doric Amphitheater has once again become a cornerstone of the city, a place of meeting, reflection and entertainment. A true gift for the citizens, a jewel of history and culture that shines in the present and projects lights of wisdom on the future of the city.

In this journey the ancient becomes contemporary and the page of history is written before our eyes, with the awareness that the glow of the past illuminates the path of the present, and the beauty of culture lies precisely in this sublime continuity. The Doric Amphitheatre, with its ancient charm and its new life, shines again in the heart of Ancona: a magical gift for the city, an invitation to discovery, a meeting place between diversities, a stage for art and thought. Because, as they say, the true voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in having new eyes. Here, the Ancona Amphitheater shines with new colors, ready to amaze and inspire.
