His most famous creation is the terrible ones Alienthe extraterrestrial species that has forever marked science fiction cinema and earned him an Oscar for special effects in 1980, but there is much more to the work of Hans Ruedi Giger.

Ten years after his death, the visionary Swiss painter, designer and sculptor will be the protagonist of an exhibition this autumn to rediscover his biomechanical style and that dark universe that so influenced surrealism, fantastic horror and gothic imagery .

There will be Alien – the seventh chapter of the saga will be released in August – but also his works for Dune, covers of important albums, furnishing objects, some of his most erotic works and a series of videos with interviews with he.

«Giger was one of the most evocative and attractive creators of recent times – explains Witzig – an artist with a contrasting personality who over the last four decades has developed a very personal artistic work of great visual and symbolic impact. His universe is dark, abject and sumptuous, mechanical and anatomical, capable of instilling terror and admiration at the same time.”

The atmospheres of the castle where the artist lived surrounded by his works will be reconstructed at the Citadel Keep with an exhibition itinerary designed to immerse oneself in his visionary and disturbing world. There are four sections, inspired by the most important areas of his work: cinema, music, surrealism and cosmic horror.

On the occasion of the exhibition, the National Cinema Museum of Turin will organize events, meetings and screenings dedicated to the artist.
