The Caritas Türkiye delegation visits Livorno / Diocese / Home

As part of the collaboration between Caritas of Tuscany and Caritas Turkey, these days a delegation from Turkey is here in Tuscany in sight in some Caritas including Livorno.

The visit, although short, was fruitful and interesting, first of all in welcoming diversity, given that the delegation is made up of people coming not only from Turkey and accompanied by an operator from Italian Caritas who works both with Caritas Jordan and Turkey.

The delegation includes operators from Caritas Istanbul, Caritas of Anatolia and the director of Caritas of Izmir.

After the meeting at the Caritas Livorno Foundation to present and make known some services such as canteen, general store, showers and cloakrooms, we moved to the Venezia district, which in addition to getting to know the city a little, was an opportunity to meet the Trinitarian Fathers with them celebrate Mass and share their story and their commitment today for persecuted Christians.

The afternoon ended with dinner in which we deepened our mutual understanding also from the point of view of ecumenism.

The following morning after the meeting and Mass with Bishop Simone, who underlined the commitment of the Tuscan Bishops to support the catechumenate in Turkey, the delegation left for Florence and then continued to Barbiana.

We thank all those who allowed this meeting of exchange and knowledge, the presence of some deacons of the Consulta della Carità was important, which we hope will be the beginning of future collaborations with a view to bearing witness to the Gospel of Charity.
