Messina, extraordinary work at the Piedmont hospital: the use of the operating rooms suspended for three days

From Monday 24 June until next 27 June, all operating room activities at the Piedmont Hospital will be suspended for extraordinary maintenance work. To communicate it theIrccs Neurolesi Center underlining that the interventions, which are urgent and cannot be postponed, mainly concern works to adapt the ventilation systems which will allow the quality standards of care provided to patients to be increased.
During this period, admissions were suspended until 08:00 on June 28th in the Surgery, Orthopedics and Urology departments. For surgical patients already in hospital or citizens who present themselves to the emergency room of the Viale Europa hospital, the activity was reorganized continuously across the other hospitals in the city network, guaranteeing the presence of a dedicated ambulance with on board medical managers belonging to the UU.OO. of Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology and Cardiology. In the event that ambulances with rescuers were to go to the Emergency Department of the Piedmont Hospital transporting patients with the aforementioned pathologies, the doctor on duty, subject to certification of clinical stability, will divert the emergency vehicle towards the other city Emergency Departments, with the exception of cases of an orthopedic nature which will be mandatorily diverted to the University Hospital of Messina given the concomitant closure of the orthopedics department of the Papardo Hospital.
