The metropolitan deputy mayor, Carmelo Versace, took part in the opening of the Reggio leg of the Biennial from the Proximity, whose fifth edition will be held in Naples. In the splendid setting of Ecolandia Park, in Arghillà, community development and sustainable economy were discussed. Carmelo Versace, after having participated in the reading by Cinzia Messina and Daniela Scuncia in memory of the poet Emilio Argiroffi, offered his contribution, in the “Spinelli” room, to the discussion on social economy and relationships in which, among others, also participated Giuseppe Minniti, president of the Ecolandia Consortium, and Marta Bottioni of the promoting committee of the Proximity Biennial.
“Proximity understood as valorization of the common good – said the deputy mayor – it is one of the engines that animates our political and administrative action. Only a few days ago, we participated in the inauguration of the Reuse Centre, a splendid reality carried out by the Roma 1995 Cooperative in an asset confiscated from crime and which gives value to people, creates jobs and puts back into circulation an economy made up of small and great gestures of solidarity and sharing”.
“A spirit that fully reflects the objectives of this beautiful Biennial – continued Versace – which rewards the commitment and dedication of those who take care of this wonderful park overlooking the Strait on a daily basis. Thanks therefore go to those who chose Reggio and Ecolandia to carry out such an important activity and, above all, to the Consortium which has at heart the fate of one of the most enchanting parts of the area”.
“In the next days – concluded Versace – the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà and the municipal council of Reggio Calabria will officially decide on joining the community foundation. A precise choice that we are proud of”.
Also present at the initiative were the metropolitan councilor Giuseppe Marino and the Welfare councilor of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, Lucia Nucera.
