THE BIRTH OF A NEW CELL

The announcement of the Italian Communist Party of Abruzzo for the city of Vasto and criticizes the administrative management of Mayor Menna

Vasto, 22 June 2024. The Italian Communist Party (PCI) of Abruzzo is pleased to announce the birth of a new cell in the Vasto area. This important development demonstrates a growing interest in our party, which in Abruzzo is seeing a significant increase in membership. More and more Abruzzo citizens recognize the PCI as a party that places the interests of the community at the center of its political action, rejecting individualistic and clientelistic logics.

The PCI of Vasto expresses harsh criticism of the administrative management of the mayor Francesco Menna, a member of the Democratic Party. The political choices of the current administration often overlap with those of the center-right, demonstrating a continuity of policies that do not respond to the needs of our community. In particular, the Vasto PCI firmly requests the resignation of the mayor Menna, due to the failed co-management of CIVETA.

The notice of appointment for the search for a handsomely paid general director for CIVETA, endorsed by the mayor, at a stage in which this figure does not appear necessary and is in our opinion counterproductive, represents a clear example of the wrong choices of the current administration and of those who shared these choices. However, the PCI also intends to distance itself from the criticisms made by the center-right in the city council regarding this issue, proposing an alternative and constructive vision for the future of the city.

The PCI, in line with its political conviction of more “State and less private”, reiterates the need to transform CIVETA Srl into a joint stock company (SpA) with total public capital, updating the current statute which does not explicitly provide for the participation of private individuals, but which allows concessions to third parties, joint ventures or the acquisition of shareholdings in companies with complementary activities. This step is essential to guarantee transparent management oriented towards the common good, overcoming the inefficiencies that in our opinion have characterized the current administration.

We are ready to collaborate and propose concrete solutions for the improvement of our city, inviting all the citizens of Vasto to join us in this path of change and political renewal.
