Success for Sicily, U17 wins the Third Edition of the Piras Trophy

The Sicilian U17 team, in its first participation, won the third edition of the “Benedetto Piras” Trophy. In the town of Castiadas, the Sicilian team faced the same age team from Piedmont Valle d’Aosta, winning with a clear 2-0. The decisive match saw the youngsters coached by Lorenzo Corsino shine, who prevailed thanks to goals from Donato, from the Accademia Siracusa, and Zizzo, from Trapani.

The president of the Sicily Regional Committee, Sandro Morgana, expressed great satisfaction with this important result. “There is great satisfaction for this important success, our first participation in the Piras tournament,” declared Morgana. “The boys gave their all without ever sparing themselves, demonstrating great maturity and desire to do well. I am particularly happy for the group, for the technicians and for all the staff members who believed in us and who came to Sardinia with enthusiasm and with the aim of doing well.” Morgana then highlighted the importance of teamwork and technical preparation, thanking in particular Luigi Gentile, the technicians Daniele Di Salvo, Lorenzo Corsino, Dario Scardaci and the regional coordinator Pierpaolo Alderisi for their commitment and dedication.

Morgana added: “From day one, I told the boys that the main objective was to have fun and keep the values ​​of sport high, putting respect and education for the opponent first: this was received very well, then having been protagonists also from a technical point of view made me particularly happy.” Furthermore, you praised the welcome received in Sardinia and the perfect organization of the tournament. “I thank my friend Gianni Cadoni, President CR Sardinia and Vice President LND, for this beautiful showcase which put our young talents at the center of attention, in a tournament which remembered a dear friend like the unforgettable president of the Sardinia Regional Committee Benedetto Piras, whose memory is always alive.”
