Modena football mourns the passing of Ildegardo Casoni

Ildegardo Casoni, a well-known coach and esteemed figure in Modena football, has passed away at the age of 71, losing his battle against a long illness. Born in 1953, “Gardo” – as he was affectionately called – left an indelible mark on the world of local football.

The football career of Casoni it started in the youth teams of Sassuoloand then continue with Consolata and Sanmichelese. In 1989, he embarked on a long career as a coach, leading teams such as Formigine, Visport, Colombaro, Polinago and Cavola. After twenty years of activity, he left football about ten years ago, but his impact was long-lasting.

Ildegardo Casoni’s funeral took place on Friday morning at the parish church of Rometta in Sassuolo. The ceremony was attended by many people, including the president of Sassuolo Carlo Rossi, the former footballer Giancarlo Corradini and numerous former footballers coached by Casoni. His death has left a deep void in the community, with many fondly remembering the years spent with him.
