Tuscany Region: We will propose a plan to the Government

“We will propose to the Government a national plan on olive growing that starts from the nursery, where the plants are developed and selected, up to the marketing of the finished product, passing through the maintenance and restructuring of the olive groves”.

This was stated by the vice-president and councilor for agri-food Stefania Saccardi who participated this morning in the assembly of the Tuscan PGI Oil Consortium for the renewal of the administrative bodies of the Consortium in view of the election of the new president.

The new board, made up of olive growers, bottlers and millers, representing the entire regional territory, is composed of Viviana Benvenuti, Maria Laura Berti, Giampiero Cresti, Paolo Di Gaetano, Francesca Ferrari, Fabrizio Filippi, Giulio Fontana, Anna Maria Gabbricci, Filippo Legnaioli, Tulio Marcelli, Fabio Marini, Matteo Mugelli, Chiara Olivi, Antonio Pasquini, Giovanni Quaratesi, Giosef Sabatini, Riccardo Sardelli, Amos Unfer. The board of auditors composed of Marco Anchinico, Claudio Lombardi and Flavio Pierini (President) was also elected.

The renewal of the Consortium’s bodies was also an opportunity to take stock of the mandate that has just ended, culminating with the registration of the brand certification process in the United States, which thus raises the level of alert in a strategic market.

“The meeting – said Saccardi – was an opportunity to take stock of one of the most important identity products of our territory, a product that brings with it some absolute values. Because our oil is not only good to taste, for its organoleptic characteristics, but it is important for nature and the environment, for the conservation of biodiversity and it is also a product that contributes to our natural well-being thanks to its strong nutraceutical properties. The recovery of the many abandoned olive groves in our territory is therefore a fundamental issue. For this reason it is important that each of us helps our olive growing by strictly purchasing oil that is produced and processed in Tuscany from traditional Tuscan olive groves, because this is good for our health, good for our economy and good for our environment and our territory”.

Many topics were addressed at the assembly of the Consortium of Tuscan PGI Oil, from the strengthening of defense and protection tools abroad and on the web, to the international promotion of the brand and the national consolidation of the governance of the Consortium of Protection within the panorama of PGI oil.
