“We thank the police forces who are committed to combating the too frequent episodes of illegality regarding food, it is a shame that the ton of anonymous meat was seized in an area such as the Province of Cuneo which is the homeland of meat, cradle of the historic Piedmontese cattle breed”. This is what the President of Coldiretti Cuneo declares, Enrico Nadacommenting on the news of the seizure in Racconigi of a ton of beef, pork, sheep and poultry meat, totally without indications on traceability.

The Guardia di Finanza, in collaboration with the ASL CN1, discovered the warehouse of a Racconigi company active in the wholesale trade which, without any authorization, preserved, processed and packaged meat completely without an origin label, to place it in the catering channels or sell them to private individuals.

“The controls of the police are welcome and, in fact, they must be strengthened precisely to protect the food safety of consumers. Finding cases like this means clarifying and sanctioning those who jeopardize the health of citizens and unfairly compete with honest companies that act in compliance with the rules, guaranteeing absolute quality and wholesomeness of agri-food products” claims the Director of Coldiretti Cuneo, Fabiano Porcu.

“Even more so after similar events, it is clear that it is of extraordinary urgency to complete the process of full transparency of origin on all food products in Europe. Let’s move forward with the #nofakeinitaly petition that every citizen can sign to say enough to the deception of imported foods disguised as Italian” concludes the President Enrico Nada.
