AVEZZANO – This morning, in Avezzano at the Municipality headquarters, the final day of the project “Let’s give birth to… safety” was held, a campaign aimed at pregnant women, the result of the collaboration between the Traffic Police Section of L’Aquila and of the Consultative Operating Unit of the ASL1 – Marsica Area Health District.

Present were, in addition to the Mayor Dr. Giovanni Di Pangrazio who did the honours, the Director of the Abruzzo and Molise Traffic Police Department, Senior Director Dr Andrea Mainardi and Dr. Domenico Parise, former Director of the Consultancy Operational Unit who collaboration with the Traffic Police was strongly desired.

As part of the childbirth preparation activities, a road safety education course was included, held by training specialists from the State Police, which integrated the knowledge of future parents on how to transport newborns, the importance of child seats and systems. “anti-abandonment”, safety rules for emergency stops, the use of seat belts for pregnant women.

The Director of the Traffic Police Section of L’Aquila, Dr. Daniela Pasqua, provided the mothers present with precise information and useful advice on how to travel safely with babies on board, while the State Police psychologist Dr. Andrea Pelliccione provided important ideas of reflection on the concepts of “risk” and “risk perception”.

The mothers present appreciated the initiative unanimously and the good result obtained meant that collaboration with the local health authorities of the other provinces of Abruzzo and Molise will soon be sought, to make the project usable throughout the territory of the two regions.
