sanctions and complaints for irregularities – Diario di Pordenone

PORDENONE – The monitoring and administrative control activity by the Judicial Police Team of the Pordenone Traffic Police Section continues unabated. The inspections focus on car dealerships, mechanical workshops, body shops, car dismantlers, tire dealers and dealers of spare parts for cars and trucks in the province.

Important Checks and Discoveries

In recent weeks, the officers of the Pordenone Traffic Police, in collaboration with the local police headquarters, discovered a completely illegal garage in a municipality in the Province of Pordenone. The activity was carried out in a private home, and the person responsible did not have any administrative authorisation, including registration with the Chamber of Commerce, and the necessary professional qualification. Furthermore, fire regulations were not respected.

During the check, a dozen cars were found, both Italian and foreign, ready for maintenance or already undergoing repairs.

Sanctions and Measures

Heavy administrative fines amounting to several thousand euros were imposed against the manager of the illegal workshop. Vehicle owners were also fined, albeit more lightly, for having entrusted the maintenance of their vehicles to an unauthorized workshop, thus violating the law.

The equipment used for the illegal activity, including a foldable hydraulic crane, compressors, oily materials and technical tools, were seized for subsequent confiscation.

Hazardous Waste and Environmental Irregularities

During the inspection, significant quantities of hazardous waste were found in the garden area and in a mechanical material warehouse connected to the activity. The intervention of specialized personnel from ARPA FVG was necessary to carry out the relevant environmental surveys.

The owner of the business, of foreign nationality and resident in the Pordenone area, was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Pordenone for the crime of abandonment and uncontrolled storage of waste, pursuant to the Consolidated Environmental Law.

Land registry and urban planning irregularities

Together with the municipality where the business was located, important cadastral and urban planning irregularities of the building used as a workshop were detected. Consequently, the owner and manager of the irregular garage were reported pursuant to the Consolidated Law on Construction.

Conclusions and Importance of Regularity

Compliance with regulations related to waste disposal and the regular acquisition of authorizations and licenses are the main checks carried out by State Police agents. These controls are fundamental to guarantee the protection of competition from other companies operating in the sector and for the protection of the environment.
