Magnta (Milan) – Work begins on redevelopment of the market square which will also be used as a car park between via Matteotti and via Santa Caterina. It is scheduled for Monday modification of the positioning of stalls and roads to allow the execution of the first phase of intervention which is expected to be completed by the end of September.
“The Monday market in Magenta represents an important attraction for the people of Magenta and for the entire territory. The area needs an overall reorganization and redevelopment not only for market days: for this reason, starting from a regional contribution, we have found the budget funds with capital revenue to also create a play area that can be used by citizens all year round. ‘year”, as the deputy mayor and councilor for public works, Enzo Tenti referring to the implementation desired by the Del Gobbo administration of an initial project for which the Lombardy Region had confirmed a contribution of 200 thousand euros.
“In the first half of the year 2024, also following the confirmation of its contribution by the Lombardy Region, we proceeded with the implementation of a project which has a dual objective: on the one hand the arrangement of the square through a redistribution of stalls markets in order to improve their usability and access to emergency vehicles; on the other hand the need to redevelop the area in order to di fill a functional void of the space, which remains partly unused for the remaining days of the week”.
The economic framework the total amount of the project called “Creation of a new public space and redevelopment of the market square as a place of urban polarity” is 339,543.13 euros, of which 200 thousand, as mentioned, with the contribution of Regional Law no. 9/2020 – Interventions for the economic recovery of the Lombardy Region, and 139,543.13 with municipal funds. In previous years the market square had been affected by a partial intervention relating to the moving and compartmentalisation, in the western area of the market, of all the stalls selling food products, equipping them with water supply, water drainage and a point of connection to the electricity grid as well as the renovation of the bituminous conglomerate flooring”.
