In the next few days “a technical table will be held between the General Directorate for health and personal policies of the Basilicata Region and the Health Directorate of the ‘Miulli’ regional general hospital in Acquaviva delle Fonti (Bari)”. This was announced through the press office of the Lucanian Regional Council by the general director for health and personal policies of the Basilicata Region, Massimo Mancini. Yesterday the “Miulli” communicated “the interruption of health services to residents of Basilicata (in the absence of the signing of the ‘Border Agreements’) starting from next July 1st”. The statement from the Basilicata Region specifies that “a phase of discussion is starting to reach a solution that allows Lucanians to receive the right healthcare even outside the region. The subject of the discussion is the definition of the terms of the Border Agreement which will have to regulate the issue of reimbursements for the healthcare services of Lucanian patients who resort to the Apulian hospital structure. The economic commitment of the Basilicata Region – it is written in the note – will have to be reflected in the correct use of hospitalizations to guarantee the Lucanian healthcare system to intercept user requests and the subsequent actions to be taken to strengthen the network”.
