From Santena 1000 euros to the neonatal intensive care unit of the Santa Croce Hospital in Moncalieri

SANTENA – 21 June 2024 – The Municipality of Santena has donated 1000 euros to the neonatal intensive care unit of the Santa Crocen Hospital in Moncalieri. Funds arrived from the sale of the book “Zuccami”, by Renata Cantamessa.

The ceremony for the delivery of the check for the fundraiser born from the editorial project which involved the children of the Santenese schools was held yesterday morning, Thursday. The mayor of Santena, Roby Ghiohanded over the check in the presence of all the doctors in the department.

The little volume “Pump me up” was created as part of the educational project conceived by Renata Cantamessa, with the collaboration of the City of Santena, the Chierese-Carmagnolese Food District and the contribution of Ser Wax Industry.
Renata Cantamessa, known as the Zucchina Fairy, wrote the fairy tale, while students from some Santenese schools illustrated the volume with their drawings. The initiative was launched in November 2023, during the Santena Pumpkin Festival. Mayor Roby Ghio expressed his pride for the Santenese community, underlining: «Today is an important day for the city of Santena and for the entire territory of the Food District beyond the Turin hills, where personal services go beyond the city borders. This initiative demonstrates how united and supportive our community is. I would like to sincerely thank Renata Cantamessa, who made herself available for this project with great dedication, and the association that contributed to acting as an intermediary between the Municipality and ASL To 5. The success of the book ‘Zuccami’ is the result of the collective commitment and generosity of our citizens. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this cause.” Renata Cantamessa, author of the book, declared: «A fairy must tell children that magic comes from people who have a great, strong intention and who manage to combine this intention with other strong intentions. This is to say that simple actions, such as moving a hand and making a donation, arise from our head. The importance and value, the talent of our head inspires what we do. “Zuccami” was born together with children, from the belief of wanting to give a message of hope. The family environment, which is also taken care of by the neonatology department of Moncalieri Hospital, can truly be the first model of emotional citizenship, as I like to say.”

Mauro Vivalda, director of Carmagnola and Moncalieri pediatrics and of Company Neonatology, expressed his sincere thanks for the initiative: «I am here to say thank you. I really have to say thank you, because these initiatives make us feel the affection, attention and care that the territory and the population have for the work we do on children. We are in perfect agreement, everyone must be protected, helped, assisted at a time when the healthcare system is not in great shape. Having some economic return that supports us, especially for the training part, is extremely rewarding. – continued Vivalda – An extremely interesting part in which we don’t invest as much as we should. This support from the outside gives us the strength and enthusiasm to move forward, to continue doing our splendid work. Thank you”. Antonio Marra, president of the Friends of Neonatology Association, highlighted: «The association acts as an intermediary in this case, in the sense that this donation passes through an association that has always taken care of the well-being of children and families who come to this intensive care and in the pediatrics of Moncalieri. We have been active for more than twenty years and have contributed significantly to the pediatric department of Moncalieri, participating in the restructuring of the neonatal unit, purchasing medical equipment and providing training – underlined Marra – This donation will go into the association’s coffers and will be allocated to agreed projects with pediatric management, ensuring they meet our principles and objectives. We are grateful for the care for families that this donation represents and for the support that the local community continues to offer to the well-being of our children.” Carlo Macchiolo, medical director of ASL To 5, closed like this: «Days like these are a pleasure because we would like to thank the entire supply chain who will bring new initiatives to the pediatric department of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In particular, thanks go to the mayor and the president of the Association. Our commitment now is to make use of what is given to us.”
