Unusual discovery by the Carabinieri of the Zafferana Etnea station, inside the garden of a villa, where 3 men, all local, aged 26, 27 and 50, were caught and reported for “receiving stolen goods”.

During a patrol, the military’s attention was attracted by two boys who, cautiously, were entering the courtyard of a private home. The Carabinieri, suspicious, decided to observe their moves, so they lurked nearby to understand what intentions they had. Peering from a privileged position so as not to be noticed, the Carabinieri saw them while, holding a flex, they began to dissect a Fiat Panda which still had the license plate.

At that point, the raid began in the garden where the military found, in addition to the small car, several car engines and other material that had been detached from now cannibalized cars. The patrol immediately got in touch with the operations center to ascertain who owned those vehicles and, thanks to the Police Force database, discovered that the flex-cut small car had been stolen in Messina a few days earlier.

Then, in a corner, semi-hidden, the Carabinieri found a still intact Fiat 500, equipped with license plates, and this too had recently been stolen in Messina.

The investigations were obviously also extended to the house and the Carabinieri ascertained that the villa had been rented, on purpose, by the father of one of the two young people found inside, so they reported him for complicity in receiving stolen goods.

All 3, therefore, were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Catania for the crime of receiving stolen goods in competition, while the area was subjected to seizure. The owner of the Fiat 500, however, the only car not yet destroyed, was immediately contacted and, with amazement and gratitude, because the car from Messina had ended up in Catania, he immediately reached Zafferana to collect the vehicle that he believed had been lost forever .
