The municipal council, chaired by the mayor Nicola Fiorita, decided, on the proposal of the councilor for public works Raffaele Scalise, to approve the executive project for the construction of prefabricated frontal burial niches in concrete inside the cemetery of the Lido district . The city councilor gives the news Raffaele Serò, who had already spoken on the topic in recent weeks.
“The intervention – he explains – is worth an amount of just under 100 thousand euros and will allow the creation, once the procedures for assigning the works have been completed, around eighty niches. The city government – continues Serò – is tackling the problem of the burial of bodies with the necessary determination, which risked becoming an emergency. In fact, less than a month after the completion of 72 new spaces in the central cemetery of via Paglia, even Lido, thanks to the impulse of mayor Fiorita who pushed for the necessary resources to be allocated, will be able to breathe a sigh of relief on a problem that rightly it is deeply felt by citizens. It is worth reiterating once again – concludes Serò – that no one has a magic wand but that in compliance with the necessary technical times the results arrive, by virtue of daily commitment and attention that always remains high”.
