Sport in the foreground, this morning, at Palazzo Farnese, where the mayor Katia Tarasconi and the councilor Mario Dadati received, in the setting of the Pierluigi Hall, the standard bearers of two different disciplines – basketball and boxing – distinguished for their respective goals achieved in the course of the season just ended.
To see the recognition and appreciation of the municipal administration given, first of all, players and managers – Luigi Stecconi and Giovanni Maestri in the lead – of the Piacenza Basket Club, which about three weeks ago achieved promotion to Serie D, the new name of the Division Regional 1. In the hands of captain Giulio Coppeta, the plaque bearing the city coat of arms and the mayor’s signature: “To the Piacenza Basket Club, historic club founded in 1978, for promotion to the DR1 series. A company with a strong connection to the territory and a vocation for the youth sector, which reaches this goal after a top championship, with a roster made up mainly of local athletes. We hope that this result will be a stimulus for the development of basketball in Piacenza, through new forms of collaboration that allow the diffusion of healthy styles, values and lifestyles”.
It was then the turn of Aurora Avesani, 13 years old, a young athlete of Salus et Virtus Boxe flanked by maestro Roberto Alberti, called to celebrate the title of Italian champion in the Schoolgirl -60 kg category in an institutional context. An important goal, achieved last May and a prelude to the first call-up to the national team for the new champion, to whom the municipal administrators – congratulating her, her coach and her family – presented a parchment in memory of the triumph: “A Championship difficult and demanding, won thanks to the dedication demonstrated during the year, the technique and the winning attitude. We hope you always follow Maestro Roberto Alberti’s precious advice, find new stimuli and reap new, exciting successes.”
