They will be canceled by Town Hallformer tax collection company, the payments requested for driveways at ground level and in private roads at Giugliano.
This is the decision taken following a meeting held at the Municipality between the mayor Nicola Pirozzi, Municipality, Publiservizi (current concessionaire of the tax collection service) and municipal managers. In recent months the bulletins have arrived at random to anyone, even those who live on a private road or have a level driveway and therefore cannot be subjected to the payment of the tax.
So after the technical table, the mayor made it known that «for 2020 and for the following years, for driveways at ground level and for those in private roads there will be self-protection and automatic cancellation, even for those who do not has submitted a request”. In recent months the two companies that took turns at the offices in via Palumbo had made available a self-protection form in which the citizen could declare why the request was illegitimate. With this new provision, therefore, the company that sent the illegitimate and undue payment requests will have to take action.

«For the 2020 year, Municipia will cancel the at-grade steps, i.e. those that do not interrupt a sidewalk, and the database will also be transmitted to Publiservizi for the following years from 2021 to 2023 – explains Pirozzi -. Same thing for driveways on private streets, where there is no public road. In this way we resolve two big problems and shed light on this affair that has gripped our city.” A “mess” that has created many inconveniences and complaints from citizens. In recent months, every time the assessments were sent, there were endless queues at the Municipality’s tax revenue offices from angry Giuglianese people asking for explanations and clarifications.
Many of the requests sent were therefore illegitimate and this is demonstrated by the mayor’s intervention and the cancellation established at the last meeting. One of the jokes in this story was the change of company after the contract expired.
The change
The alternation between Municipality and Publiservizi has confused an already complex situation. And in the last month, the current concessionaire, for the 2020 notices, invited taxpayers to go to the headquarters of Town Hall of Melito. A paradoxical situation which should now move towards resolution. The driveway issue has been going on since last year when payment requests arrived from thousands of taxpayers but the previous company, Municipia, also sent them to those who did not qualify for the tax.
Once these cases have been archived, there still remain those relating to condominiums where to receive the payment request there is only one condominium for everyone. In these circumstances, according to what was reported by the offices, the resident of the building or park to whom the notice was received should arrange for the collection of the fee from all condominium owners. A notable inconvenience, especially in parks with dozens of residents.
