Today, the president of 5 Star Movement Giuseppe Conte came to Avellino to support the candidacy for mayor of Antonio Gengaroin the run-off with the candidate for the tricolor band Laura Nargi. The first stop was in Borgo Ferrovia for a coffee with the voters and the candidate and for a visit to the railway and the “Mural of Peace” by Ettore de Conciliis. Subsequently, President Conte was in Piazza Libertà.
“We are at the ballot, it is the last effort for the citizens to turn the page. There is a team of administrators already ready, serious, ready to leave the next day. There are also important resources that should not be wasted, such as those of the PNRR We need to work with seriousness and transparency for the population. We are absolutely determined to support Antonio Gengaro with clarity and linearity. We obviously hope to mark a new page for the government of this city.”
On differentiated autonomy, Conte has clear ideas: the South will be penalized. “On differentiated autonomy, a split in Italy is predicted which will obviously lead to a gap, as regards health, education, transport, infrastructure, to the complete detriment of this South. We must combat it in every way. The Movement 5 Star has appealed to President Mattarella, who is the guarantor of the unity of Italy, but we will also appeal to the citizens for a repeal referendum. We are already ready to intervene.”
Inside the church of San Francesco d’Assisi, the mural of peace is a message created at the time of the war in Vietnam, unfortunately still very relevant today. “Unfortunately, yes, because the conflicts that rage make the commitment to peace even more relevant. You know that we believe it is all the more essential today to commit to negotiations, because we cannot continue conflicts without limits, rather an escalation that impoverishes everyone and only increases the victims of this war.”
On the results of Campo Largo in these elections, Conte concludes: “As you can see here too, we were immediately committed from the beginning. When the conditions exist and the candidates are up to the task, as in this case Antonio Gengaro, we are there absolutely with great strength and conviction”, he concludes.
