In the year in which AC Carpi won the Serie D championship and rediscovered professionalism, there was also another Carpi player who “won his own championship”. It is Fabrizio Daghio, a coach with a past in the red and white youth teams who, after having started touring Italy between Eccellenza and Promozione, is fresh from an unforeseeable salvation on the bench of Ss Leonzio.
In Lentini, in the oldest Sicilian club with a glorious past with several seasons in Serie C, Mister Daghio performed a sporting miracle, saving a group in the play-off round that had been eliminated in December and was left with only a handful of young players. Having taken over at the beginning of January, Daghio achieved the feat thanks to the 2-3 draw on the Messana pitch with a display of pride that allowed the Bianconeri to lock down the Excellence and avoid the specter of Promotion: «I was accepted because I exposed and at the complete disposal of the team and the latter repaid me by giving me a salvation that is worth like a treble – says Daghio –. Thanks to the whole Leonzio family, these months have been strong and full of emotions and very important for strengthening my character.”
Having archived the Leonzio undertaking, Mister Daghio is already ready for a new adventure. Which, for a change, after Lentini, Marsala, Sant’Antonio Abate and Assisi, will take him further away from Carpi, between Eccellenza and Serie D.
