Calabria is preparing to welcome theeighth edition of the “EXIT: Deviations in Art and Music” festival, an event of national importance that stands out for its innovation and ability to attract the public and investments. Designed and organized by Plan B, EXIT – co-financed over the years by Calabria region – is today the only multidisciplinary music festival in the province of Cosenza to be supported since 2020 by the Ministry of Culture on the Single Entertainment Fund.
Experiencing art and music while enhancing the territories
EXIT is much more than a festival: it invites you to discover new escape routes, new perspectives, to live according to different rhythms and dimensions. The traveling festival has consolidated itself as an important cultural attractor and a strong territorial marketing tool, thus attracting tourists and investments, but above all it continues to enhance the rich artistic heritage of Calabria. Characteristic of EXIT is, in fact, the contamination with a strong emotional impact of the territory: structured as a container of diversified artistic-cultural actions, it prefers the extraordinary architectural and environmental heritage of Calabria as scenarios for all events, precisely to encourage their promotion .
Three sections for a unique experience
The festival is made up of three sections: the first, EXIT, is dedicated to the well-known names of music, dance and theater at an international level, hosted in prestigious places and environments; the second, EXIT & Friends, it is a tribute to local excellence, which highlights emerging talents and unpublished works by actors, writers, musicians, painters, photographers and illustrators; finally the third, EXIT up to the mountains – involves many activities to promote the territory, in particular the Sila plateau, through multidisciplinary performances, author meetings, exhibitions and food and wine events, enriched by sporting activities such as trekking, canoeing and biking.
Summer 2024 program
The inauguration of the festival is a powerful start and sees an important collaboration. For the first time two festivals, “L’Altro Teatro Review – #RestartLiveFest” and “EXIT: Deviations in Art and Music”come together to offer the city of the Bruttians a superlative night.
Indeed, Friday 28 June 2024 at 9.30pm in Piazza XV Marzo in Cosenza, Arena Rendano will open with “Emotions. My life in song”of and with Gianmarco Carroccia and Mogol. Carroccia, with his emotional voice – incredibly similar to that of Lucio Battisti – and Mogol, promise a show that will amaze, on a journey that tells the genesis of the most beautiful songs performed by Battisti.
The second EXIT event will be held in Ducal Castle of Corigliano-Rossano (CS), Friday 5 July 2024 at 9.30pmwith the trumpeter Nello Salza in “Homage to Ennio Morricone”. Salza, who played for 250 soundtracks by the late Maestro, celebrates precisely that music in the setting of the ancient manor, a choice that gives the event an extraordinary aura.
Always at Corigliano-Rossanothis time in the Schiavonea area, Saturday 13 July 2024 at 9.30pm Palazzo delle Fiere – Quadrato Compagna, Luca Ward in “The talent of being everyone and no one”. Luca Ward is, in the collective imagination of Italians, the voice of iconic characters from hundreds of films including, just to name a few, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix and Gladiator.
He fully belongs to the pop culture of our country, and with his extraordinary and fascinating voice, he offers an unexpected journey in his incredible and long career, also through the direct involvement of the public. A performance that promises to be one of the highlights of the festival.
EXIT will then move to Sersale Palace in Cerisano (CS) Sunday 14 July 2024 at 7.30pm with “Tango Opera Ballet – It was a love story” . This time too, a splendid historic building will be the perfect setting for a passionate evening dedicated to tango, and it will be easy to give in to the emotion of a timeless dance with the artistic direction of the Maestro Ciccio Aiello.
The festival will continue in Palazzo delle Fiere – Quadrato Compagna with others Twenty past four.
Sunday 21 July 2024 at 9.30pm, Giovanni Scifoni will be “BETWEEN. Saint Francis super star of the Middle Ages”. In his theatrical show Scifoni brings the historical figure of Saint Francis of Assisi into a face-to-face relationship with modernity by combining narration, music and direct interaction, in a work so successful that it is sold out in all Italian theatres.
Then it will be the turn of Angelo Branduardi in concert with “Confessions of a Marauder”, Saturday 27 July 2024, at 9.30pm. With this album and concert, Branduardi continues to demonstrate the rare ability to link poetry and music, sharing his art in an unmissable show.
Then it will be the turn of “The Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd Legend, Tuesday 6 August 2024 at 9.30pm. The group, recognized as one of the best tributes to Pink Floyd internationally, presents a very strong musical experience that faithfully reproduces the entire album, one of the most iconic in the history of rock.
The EXIT cycle will close at the Palazzo delle Fiere Cristiano De André with his #DeAndrè Best of Live Tour, Sunday 11 August 2024, at 9.30pm. Cristiano brings his talent to the stage, honoring his father’s memory and keeping his music alive, which continues to touch the hearts of people of all generations, offering an unmissable opportunity to experience the emotions and poetry of Fabrizio De’s songs André.
EXIT continues in the evocative space dedicated to the concerts ofSaracen Arena of Cirò Marina (KR) Wednesday 21 August 2024, at 9.30pm. Here Gianmarco Carroccia and Mogol return with “Emotions. My life in song”, promising another evening of guaranteed emotion and audience involvement, and consolidating the success of their show already acclaimed everywhere.
For the last appointment of the month August, the 23, starting at 4pm the community will be the protagonist San Lorenzo Bellizzi (CS), where it will be held EXIT “Beautiful nights in Bellizzi”, a day of artistic, musical and traditional events that celebrates the beauty and culture of a village with breathtaking scenery, in the heart of Pollino, close to the “Gole del Raganello”. A truly magical place, where you can still experience the precious gift of slowness.
In September, we continue with EXIT & Friends And EXIT up to the mountains. Art, nature and friendship are the elements that unite and which will materialize in a series of events which will surprise, closing the EXIT festival with the spirit that belongs to it: the celebration of local creativity and the natural beauty of Calabria.
