the police commissioner issues seven «Daspo Willie»

Two factions who faced each other to the sound of kicks, punches, bottles and belts: both groups composed of foreigners, in one case the “masters of the house”, North Africans, Albanians and Romanians who came to blows with young Africans of sub-Saharan origin near the Gallarate station (Varese). For those facts, which occurred on June 3rdthey are there today ten complaints (one of the subjects is a minor), for the crimes of “fight”, “carrying objects capable of offending” and “aggravated threat”; furthermore the commissioner of Varese Carlo Ambrogio Enrico Mazza he issued seven «Daspo Willie»a measure that will ban access for two years to the premises and public establishments located in the city center of Gallarate and in the area adjacent to the railway station.

The men of deputy commissioner Luigi Marsico they reconstructed the facts which can be fundamentally broken down into two moments: a first contact it happened that Monday evening between the two factions near the station, where the argument took place foiled by some passers-by. The second contact between the two groups it then happened in Piazza XXV Aprile and in Via Borghi, where they emerged broken bottles and a hammer: only the arrival of the police cars and local police and carabinieri cars in support prevented the worst.

«During the investigations», specify the Varese police headquarters «in addition to the severity of the behaviors made by each participant in the brawl, some of whom were already under investigation for similar episodes, one thing emerged worrying inclination to reiterate, blatantly and dangerously, concrete and violent actions with a negative impact on public order, with evident negative repercussions also on the perception of safety by the citizens, particularly alarmed from the episode, which occurred among other things in prime time, when he focuses the return of the majority of commuters”.

The investigations also revealed connections with another brawl which also occurred in the Gallarate station area on May 21st, with wounded, and on which the men of the investigative unit of the force are at work: there would in fact be some connections between these two episodes, and it cannot be ruled out that the ongoing investigations may reveal other responsibilities for those reported or even other subjects.

And not only that: some of the participants in these latest episodes were also implicated in the large brawl that took place in the center of Gallarate in January 2021 with dozens and dozens of very young people armed with sticks and chains who had arranged to meet in the city to clash. Returning to the brawl of June 3rd, those affected by the Daspo will have the prohibition of access to public premises and establishments located in the area where the episode took place. They will be denied access to restaurants, pastry shops, ice cream parlors, bars and public establishments as well as dance halls, gaming halls and nightclubs to avoid problems for public safety. Violation of the provision entails imprisonment from 6 months to 2 years and a fine from 8,000 to 20,000 euros.
