The occupation of Palazzo Nuovo by pro-Palestinian students of the University of Turin ended after almost 40 days. “The blocking of educational activities is no longer functional – explained the movement in a note – and the time has come for new forms of mobilization. During these 6 weeks we have repeatedly made our voice heard by the university governance. In response we have only ever found fake spaces for dialogue in which our requests have been silenced and ignored. Today it seems clear to us that the occupation of Palazzo Nuovo is no longer the best tool for our purposes, but it was the stage in a broad mobilization process and allowed us to achieve many objectives, first of all the creation of a strong community fighting for Palestine.” The rector Stefano Geuna announced that after checks on the state of the premises and the restoration of safety measures, activities will resume.
