Lamezia, ‘Let’s Defend the Constitution’ Committee on differentiated autonomy: “Ready to gather consensus and signatures to repeal the law”

Lamezia Terme – The lawyer Mario De Grazia, addressing the citizens, highlights how “the work of the “Let’s defend the Constitution” Committee of Lamezia continues, today more than yesterday. We have, so far, carried out work of awareness, information, in-depth analysis, aggregation, we have spared no effort in stimulating the various organizations, not purely political, to seek convergent paths on the issues of defense of the Constitution and of combating differentiated autonomy. I believe that, at least locally, we have done our part.”

Now, De Grazia continues, “it is a question of reflecting on what happened and preparing for future battles to counter this law of the right-right which has, in the words of our Bishop, “institutionalised wild and selfish individualism”. The me first, us first, which is not dissimilar to the Veneto or Lombardy, Piedmont or Romagna first, is the exact opposite of the principles of our Constitution which speaks of unity, subsidiarity, solidarity, equality of all citizens . Also for this reason, we are convinced, between the essential levels of provision of services, the equalization fund, the absolute lack of economic and budgetary resources (at least 80-100 billion euros would be needed this year) exemplary and unsolvable contradictions will certainly break out between the Regions, there will be appeals and challenges before the Constitutional Court. We will be there, we will be present in the area and, in close relationship with the other committees that have arisen in Calabria and in the rest of Italy, we will carry on our democratic struggle for the defense of the principles of our Constitution. We will continue to raise awareness, inform and involve citizens, secular and Catholic associations, opposition parties, parishes and, after the law is promulgated and published, we will collect consensus and signatures for its repeal. This illiberal right today rejoices in the victory, but we are convinced that it is “the Pyrrhic victory” and that its involution in the country and among the voters will begin from here. We are also certain that, if we are united, careful and determined, we will not be alone in this democratic and, in the end, successful struggle”.
