Autism: Imminent opening in Mesagne of a socio-rehabilitative community for people with autism. First center in the province of Brindisi. Yesterday, with a specific resolution of the Regional Council, the single regional remuneration fund for the purchase of services from private structures authorized and accredited for autism referred to in RR no. was increased. 9/2016 of approximately 2,700,000; this will allow new centers dedicated to providing essential levels of assistance to people with autism to begin their activity as early as 1 July 2024. The work carried out in the health commission and in the regional council in recent years, thanks also to the extraordinary and fundamental contribution of Dr. Antonio Calabrese, consultant of the third commission on the topic of autism, therefore, continues to bear fruit; in fact, in addition to the health contribution for autism of 5,000 euros per year, useful to support families who turn to private centers approved in July 2023 – currently being amended imminently -, new specialized centers for autism are opening pursuant to the regulation regional. Throughout the Puglia region, there are seven new structures that will benefit from the aforementioned provision, among these the “Domus Ada” socio-rehabilitative community in Mesagne. Obviously our commitment will continue in the coming months with the aim of providing our territory with other specialized rehabilitation facilities for autism, taking into due consideration all the suggestions coming from the regional bodies and the regional table for Autism.
