BEAUTIFUL AMONG THE BEAUTIFUL AT “MOTOCICLETTANDO” AND “AUTOGIROVAGANDO”, IN TUSCANY AND EMILIA-ROMAGNA WITH MOTORCYCLES AND VINTAGE CARS – ASI

A double event for motorcycles and historic cars made the flag of ASI Circuito Tricolore fly during the mid-June weekend. The most evocative streets, villages and squares of Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna hosted “Motociclettando” and “Autogirovagando”. The final awards ceremony for the most representative examples is inevitable, starting with the trophies up for grabs by ASI’s partner Circuito Tricolore “Car & Classic”. The experts chose the 1938 Matchless 38X motorbike, ridden by Simone Casari, and the 1934 Lancia Belna ridden by Riccardo Rocchi. Furthermore, at “Autogirovagando”, at the end of the evening parade in the center of Cesenatico, other “misses” with timeless charm were crowned. “Beautiful among the beautiful”, a sort of “best of show”, the 1939 Fiat 1500 Cabriolet by Raffaele Barbieri; “Most elegant car” is Roberto Ballada’s 1921 Fiat 501 Torpedo; “The most aggressive car” is Marco Faggioli’s 1936 Delage D6-80; the “Alberto Ghini Memorial” to Mario Ghirardo Romero’s 1909 Buick Absent.

The teamwork put in place by the Siena Club Auto Moto d’Epoca, the Club Moto d’Epoca Fiorentino and the Italian Indian Historical Registry inspired the participation of almost eighty historic motorbikes (about twenty rare and precious “centenaries”, such as the Rochet Tricycle dated 1900, the Brutus of 1902 or the Frera of 1904) which from Monteriggioni di Siena took on a ride in the splendid scenery offered by the Chianti, the Crete Senesi and the Val d’Orcia.

“Autogirovagando”, organized by the Collectors Historic Car Club of Cesena, was a real dive into the past with cars built before 1945. After leaving Cesenatico we reached the Saline di Cervia and then the visit to the Siropack company which hosted a conference on sustainability, with particular focus on electrical technology and bio-fuels by speakers from the University of Bologna. The activities continued with a visit to the Maritime Museum and visits to San Carlo di Cesena, Sarsina (with a visit to the Archaeological Museum) and Villa Silvia in Lizzano.

The next stages of ASI Circuito Tricolore, from 27 to 30 June, are “The Legend of Bassano” and “In moto sulle Alpi”: the first, organized by the Circolo Veneto Automoto d’Epoca, will live on the roads of Veneto and Trentino- Alto Adige with the “Sport” cars built until 1960; the second, organized by the Veteran Car Club Turin, will travel through the mountains of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta.
