Dragged to the ground and kicked: the video of the attack by Casapound militants against some students in Rome

According to investigations conducted by Digos, the victims, who had a red flag from the ‘Middle Students’ Network’ following them, they passed around 8.40pm near the ‘Cutty Sark’ pub, a regular meeting place for militants of the far-right movement, and were brutally attacked by 4 peoplewho took over the flag of the youth movement of reference of the CGIL. One of the attacked filmed the perpetrators of the violence with his cell phone while they beat the young students, one of whom was kicked while he was lying on the ground. From the reconstruction of the dynamics of the facts, no previous relationships emerged between the victims and the attackers such as to justify the violence committed, which would therefore appear to have been determined solely by different political orientation.

As early as tomorrow, Digos will file with the prosecutor’s office a crime report against those responsible for what happened, who will be immediately identified. Mayor Gualtieri is in solidarity with the boys attacked: «Rome does not accept any form of violence and if anyone thinks of intimidating with neo-fascist squadrism, typical of the weak and cowardly, they have misunderstood». Same wavelength for Nicola Fratoianni, of the Green Left Alliance: «The response of the institutions must be immediate and clear: no impunity for Mussolini’s grandchildren if they think they can lord it over the capital». “We must work to put out the fire of violence but we must avoid summary trials and prejudicial reconstructions”, declared the president of the Chamber’s Culture Commission, Federico Mollicone (Fdi). Meanwhile Anpi and CGIL have organized a demonstration for tomorrow also to express “strong concern for the climate that is being created in the country”.
