An important milestone has been reached for the capital’s community with the inauguration of the first Social Home for the elderly and the neighborhood (CSAQ). This new center, located in Via Angelo Emo 8, represents a model of inclusiveness aimed not only at the elderly, but at the entire neighborhood community.
This transformation is due to the new regulation on Senior Centers, which provides that each structure is entrusted to a Social Promotion Association (APS), thus becoming a CSAQ, a more open and integrated structure with the territory. This morning, with the signing of the first Convention between the first Municipality, represented by the Director Pasquale Libero Pelusi, and the president of the Angelo Emo Social Promotion Association, Maria Palomba, in the presence of the President of Municipality I, Lorenza Bonaccorsi, and of the councilor for social policies and equal opportunities Claudia Santoloce, this significant step has been made official.
A new model of inclusiveness for the elderly and the neighborhood
CSAQ is not just a senior center, but an important resource for the entire community. With the three-year assignment to the APS, the association will have the task of taking care of the premises and putting them at the service of the territory. This visionary model expands the traditional function of senior centers, transforming them into places where the entire community can meet and carry out cultural and social activities.
The Casa Sociale presents itself as a point of support for the elderly population, offering a variety of recreational and cultural opportunities. It will not only be a meeting place, but also a platform to promote active aging, increasing users’ motor, cognitive and creative abilities. It is an environment that promotes integrated well-being, involving a wider network of people of all age groups.
Activities and initiatives for everyone
The variety of activities proposed is wide and designed to respond to the different interests and needs of the community. In the CSAQ premises it will be possible to organize convivial moments, recreational activities, cultural and volunteering events. There will be no shortage of opportunities to participate in theater and cinema shows, guided tours and amateur sporting events.
Furthermore, card and chess tournaments, dance competitions and initiatives for the care of public green areas will be organised. This type of activity not only provides fun and recreation, but also promotes social cohesion and the mental and physical well-being of seniors and other participants.

Councilor Claudia Santoloce underlined the importance of this project, expressing gratitude for the work carried out by the offices of the technical management and the socio-educational management. With the first step taken, it is expected that further agreements will be signed in the coming weeks to extend this model to other parts of the city. Santoloce said: “It is a source of great pride for us to take steps like this.”
